If youíve ever been to a horse-related event at The Expo, chances are youíve been in the Isola Memorial Arena. Dedicated and named for local business owners Red and Eleanor Isola, the arena is the second-largest covered arena in the West. It is the premier horse show and event facility in Southern Oregon, hosting such events as the Oregon Quarter Horse Show, the Pacific Crest Arabian Show, the Cascade Paint Horse Show and the Cathedral Hills Dressage Show.
With its large, well-groomed floor, the arena is ideal for other livestock-related events, as well, including dog shows and rodeos. Because it is covered, the arena is used year-round. Itís a staple for local 4-H clubs, high school equestrian teams, team penning, roping teams and other horse-related clubs in the Rogue Valley. When itís not reserved for an event, itís also available for open riding.
The Isola Memorial Arena is surrounded by heavy-duty corral panels, with an adjacent holding pen. With two large metal bleachers, there is a seating capacity of more than 400. Nearby bathrooms and drinking fountains make it a pleasant place for guests. The arena is next to a horse and livestock housing area that features wash racks, 196 stalls and covered breezeways for all-weather grooming. There is ample parking for horse trailers, RVs and other vehicles.
Because the Isola Arena is next door to the Compton Arena, the two are often rented together. Theyíre separated by lovely Chaisson Park, which features lawns, benches and shade trees, so renting the two facilities in tandem provides an area that can be used for catered lunches and breaks. The Expo staff can also help event planners source caterers or provide concessionaire services.
